Today, my car was found with a smashed window and a torn-apart steering column, in order to hot-wire it. The thief didn't get away with my car, though. The engine was in the garage, where I've been working on it for two days. FML

minauto tells us more.

This actually happened to my boyfriend but he posted it from my account since he doesn't own a smartphone himself. he pulled his engine from his car to work on it (he's an auto tech student) and had been without a car for a few days. luckily he was planning on getting a new ignition, he wasn't however planning on replacing a perfectly good window... but thanks for all the comments guys, i'll be sure to let him know about all the support!

I'm guessing the thief didn't see the "check engine" light.

This literally just happened to my car two days ago! He not only failed to hot wire it, but he left his phone and screwdriver in my car. -.-

Today, after months of preparation, I finally broke into a car and tore into the steering column to hot wire it. I spent a full five minutes desperately fighting with the wires before I realized that the car didn't have an engine in it. FML

this is more like the thief's FML than tours....today i was stealing a car wen i realized the car had no engine. lol

Today, I spent 15 minutes trying to hot-wire a car, after I bragged to my friends about how easy this model was to steal. FML.

From what I know buying the parts to fix the car costs more than the car in whole, go buy yourself a Honda or something those are good cara

Generally it's much less expansive to pay $30,000 for a new car than it is paying $500-$800 to replace a broken window... No -_-

Really? It's even super obvious when a car has no engine in it. The front of the car is raised up around 6 inches because it has no weight over it.

Parking in the garage would have prevented this..,but at least you didn't lose your car which wouldn't have happened anyway...hope the repair isn't too drastic

80, "...The engine was in the garage where I had been working on if for two days..."

I have a garage that won't fit a car. It's used for storage. Plus, even if he has a bigger garage than I, he's working on an engine, so I'd assume he needs room to do that.

well he wasnt trained enough check the engine before stealing the car... sorry op..
