Today, my boyfriend of nearly five years broke up with me because he found everything I say and do to be annoying and irritating. But he couldn't explain why and reassured me the break up had nothing to do with me or the fact that he doesn't love me. FML

To be frank, breaking up with OP is definitely the better choice here. For the simple reason that the other option is him staying with OP because he 'loves' them, and this they belonged to him, despite the fact that the relationship would probably become inherently toxic and abusive from him lashing out at OP because of his irritation with OP's existence and mannerisms, which he seems to imply that he knows are irrational. Of course, people are going to call the boyfriend names, despite him choosing the healthier and more responsible option out of some less than ideal ones, because how dare someone break up with another person! Unless they're the person breaking up with another person, in which case good for them!

That has to be the weirdest excuse I ever heard to break up with someone. But screw him anyways

it sounds like it might be irrational irritation caused by stress or mental illness, and if that's the case, breaking up with you is probably the most considerate thing he could do.
