Today, my allergies are killing me. I took a Benadryl to help, but the allergies are still here. I'm now chugging Mountain Dew at 9:30 in the morning to keep from falling asleep at my desk. Thanks for nothing Benadryl. FML

Non-drowsy is a better choice when you have to participate in, ya know, life.

Take a second generation antihistamine. Claritin and Alegra will give you relief with minimal drowsiness.

Next time, try alka selzter cold and sinus tablets. I have major seasonal allergies (pollen) as well as being allergic to pet dander (and possibly dust) and every allergy medicine I took stopped working for me after a while. My bestie has two dogs and a cat and I was really suffering one day at her house. So she gave me the alka-selzter tablet. It worked like a dream and I've been using it ever since. But don't get the plain/orignal ones - so nasty tasty. Get the orange or cherry - tastes so much better cause you only get a small taste of the actual tablet "flavor" at the end. Oh, and they're non-drowsy.

The exact same thing happened to me today. I got an allergic reaction to something at the beach which caused a rash. I took a Benadryl to help it (it did nothing) and as I was doing math homework, I fell asleep on my desk.

Sudafed in the morning, Benadryl at night. You did it backwards.

I feel your pain! I've only found one medication that actually keeps my allergies at bay, and it has to be washed down with red bull, or equivalent. Hang in there x
