Today, I went directly from the shopping mall to the hospital. My sister had slammed my hand in the car door, all because I considered purchasing a dress that looked like something she might buy for herself. FML

Thank you everyone for your comments. To clarify, my sister is 15 and it was an accidental hand slamming while in the heat of her argument that I was "copying her style". (Which is why you should never slam doors or break things when you're mad! Use your words!)

I'm not joking when I say this: Your sister sounds like she's literally psychotic and dangerous. Please don't just share this with us anonymously. Report this to the police and tell your parents, whether or not you still live with them. She needs a psych evaluation, and possibly institutionalization, because next time she could REALLY hurt somebody. Good luck.

Psychotic people generally are. Maybe if the sister were a child, it might be different. But since she's talking about, "Something she might consider buying for herself" it seems that if she's not an adult, she's at least close enough to being a legal adult to know better. It's scary that she'd physically hurt someone close to her over a matter so trivial.

I agree. I feel like we either missed part of the story, the sister didn't close the door on her hand on purpose, or she is absolutely insane and needs to be put somewhere where she is not a threat to others. The weirder thing is that it wasn't even like they bought the same dress or that OP bought the last one and the sister wanted it, it was one she "may" have wanted to buy one day. What happens when she goes grocery shopping and the person in front of her buys the last bag of milk?! :|

I had the latch for the car door crush my fingers when I was a little kid. I put my fingers in the bit on the doorframe and then my sister slammed the door on my fingers not realising. I can't remember what else happened other than me screaming. I do remember it hurt a lot though, I can't imagine having the pain of having the door actually slam on your fingers though. Your sister needs help.

As someone who's had a car door closed on their fingers (same scenario - accident/not realising/etc.), I imagine the latch must've been way more painful.

My ex's mother accidentally smashed my fingers this way too while I was still with him. It hurts..but then it gets better, because you stop being able to feel it. Wait, that might be even worse.
