Today, I was teaching my daughter how to ride a bike with no training wheels. After comforting her and assuring her that she'd be fine, I gave her a big push. She fell forward over the handlebars and scraped her chin on the front wheel. FML

Dear god, don't worry OP! It was an accident and you both learned from it, don't worry! I'm sure you haven't scarred her! (:

Perhaps next time you guide her so walk with her until she gets the hang of it. Don't worry too much though kids always fall off their bikes and go over the handlebars it's a learning experience and they are resilient.

Why would you give a big push?! That's idiotic

Thats better than my first time. My brothers pushed me down the street into a canal.

You push as you run along beside the bike while holding on so that it does'nt fall over.

I learned how to ride a bike with absolutely NO training wheels whatsoever. I got my share of skinned knees and banged elbows, it's part of the learning process. Next time try letting her ride by herself.

Because obviously, pushing her forward on a scary moving vehicle with no seatbelt definitely seems safe. Haven't you seen all of the cliche scenes in movies and TV shows where the parent is teaching the kid to ride the bike? They hold on to the bike, jog with the kid while they pedal, and gradually and secretly let go. Your kid wasn't ready and shoving her probably scarred her from the darn bike for awhile.
