Today, I started a new job. The supervisor handed me a badge with the name 'Rachel' on it, which is not my name. When I told her this, she responded with, "I know, but it will be easier for the customers to pronounce than your actual name." FML

that's not that bad , my name is spelled Raecheal . pronounced like Rachel , and they always give me Rachel name tags. also my 3 best friends (triplet sisters) always gets their names mis-pronounced . Illeana , Elora , and Lael . it's a fact of life that not everyone is fermilliar with every word or name . not that bad OP

21 it really isn't that serious. 15 those are beautiful Celtic names and pretty creative for triplets.

21- Are you familiar with contractions?

very pretty names and and so is Rachel :)

Did you really think people at costumer service and such use their real names? Have you never wondered why they are always so generic? Its just good business to use easy, popular names.

they should still put it or use middle name if you did not request it. I my name tag has my middle name I got a friend that everyone calls her NC even work and her tag. the funny thing is there is no C in her name bur some how the q makes the c sound in her name.

I don't really consider this an FML.. Hi-5 for living in NSW though, OP :)

this has the most moderated comments ever! isn't racism fun? OP At least your name isn't ******** pronounced shi-th-eed

Whether or not this is an FML depends on your real name. So, spill it :)

they always do that to me... but I'm hawai'ian... my name is Hematria homertia Kameh-Ameha. no joke. im actually descended and I got fired for that once. look at the bright side. at least your parents can pronounce it. I get called "him" all the time or dude.

Heh, my sister has a similar problem with her Hawaiian name. It's Kamauela, supposedly the Hawaiian version of "Samuel." Apparently, Dad wanted a boy. He got one, another marriage and many girls later, and-- you guessed it. I have a brother and a sister both named Samuel.

how's this an FML? dude it's just a name.

unfortunately it happens! don't blame your manager.... blame society for being so simple minded. they want everything spelled out for them.
