Dude my mom does that. She will wait to see if he likes it and if not she throws it all away and opens a new can. When she asks me to do this I refuse because I feel if the cat is hungry he will eat what is given.

My cat will do the same thing, even if her bowl is full, if she can see even the smallest speck of bowl, she will not eat until I put more into it. I love my princess kitty.

Just don't feed the cat for 3 days and see if she will eat her food. I can guarantee that she will eat anything at that point.
