Today, I spilled the bowl of cat food I'd just filled. I picked it all up in front of my cat, but he refused to eat any of it. I had to put the food back into the packet and fill the bowl all over again. My cat is a prince. FML

I normally leave it. My cats usually wait til I finish messing round with their food before they touch it anyway. If they don't eat what I put down (because it's a new type and they hate it), I leave it up to four hours and then clean it up. Depends on your cat/s though.

Yah I would have just left it there and if he doesn't eat it, he doesn't eat it. I wouldn't give him new food until he ate it unless it got stale. He needs to learn that he can't just not eat because he doesn't like it.

@64 Actually he can, because he can catch his own food. Unless he's an indoor cat, in which case, why would you force him to eat something he doesn't like?
