Today, I had to re-grade a student's assignments because neither he, nor his parents can read "Spanish." I'd written in cursive. FML

I bet you those are the south people that are ignorant and highly intelligent. From a-f Spanish and English has the same letters. I'm pretty sure that boy had an F

I don't get how everyone goes 'I know someone who can't read cursive' or 'I know a preschooler who can'. How can you NOT read cursive? It's ordinary letters, with the top going more to the right. So if you can't read cursive, you can't read, it's simple as that.

Lowercase f's, r's, s's, and z's don't really look like printed letters. Also it might be confusing for people who've never seen it before, differentiating the loops and bumps. That's just what I'd imagine.

This is where teachers should have the right to just say "no. its cursive." and have the admins back them... but we live in a "child is always right" society and thats messed up

I know people older than me that don't know how to read or write cursive.

In my state, cursive stopped being taught so I never learned cursive. I can read it, it just takes forever, and I had to learn what I know myself. So, maybe this kid just never learned? It's not their fault.
