Today, I fell asleep while on the toilet at work. When I woke up, I tried to quietly sneak back to my desk, only to be caught by my boss. He immediately sent me packing and gave his "best wishes" for me in the unemployment line. FML

Today, at work, I stepped out for a few minutes to use the bathroom. Shortly after returning, I found out the hard way that one of my coworkers had used my computer to send a profanity-filled email to our boss, calling him an asshole and telling him to go fuck himself. I'm now jobless. FML

Today, after a sleepless night, I fell asleep at my work desk. When I awoke, I found my co-workers had duct taped me to my chair. I was yelling at them to untape me, when our boss came in, scolded me for fucking about on the job, and left without saying a word to my colleagues. FML

Today, I worked 24 hours straight fixing my company's servers. After it was over, I breathed a huge sigh of relief and promptly fell asleep at my desk. My boss found me an hour later, refused to listen to me, and fired me for sleeping on the job. FML

I'm very skeptical that this is all you were fired for. It seems YDI, based on what you have posted, you were just irresponsible and fell asleep at work. Someone mentioned that is "time theft", I agree completely. Hopefully, you take your next job more seriously. In this economy, there are plently of ppl out of work eager to actually work at whatever job they are given.

unfortunately that's the way the cookie crumbles. I'm sure this wasn't her first incident she could be a chronic bathroom user. I wouldn't want an employee who spends more time in the bathroom then at their desk.

And sue OP's boss for what? It seems, to me at least, that OP's boss did nothing wrong in this situation, certainly nothing punishable by law. He just did his job of making sure his employees do theirs... Even if you're in America, you can't sue for everything, sometimes something is just your fault. OP: YDI.

Depends if the OP fell asleep by accident or on purpose. If it was an accident they should've maybe got a warning or a disciplinary but not the sack. Otherwise yeah, it's a legit reason to be fired.
