Today, at my work, I was ringing though a kid's purchase. I try to be friendly with the kids and when he handed me his cash I said "Thank you, sir!" in a playful manner. He then turns to his mom and says "Mom, why does everyone think I am a boy?". FML

Oh my god! People have done this to me, I'm a thirteen year old girl, and my hair is about up to my chin, I've been called "sir" or "young man" on multiple occasions! I know how the girl feels! It's not your fault though OP It's an honest mistake

Aww I feel so bad for her... ;~;

I feel that kid's pain, I was always mistaken for a boy when I was small. But mum would always dress me in overalls and cut my hair short...

When I was in 1st grade, I cut off all my hair. I was bald to the point you had to run your finger across my scalp to even feel that I had hair. My dad dropped me off at school for the first time ever. (He was constantly deployed or had to be to work early). He gets to work and his coworker caught up to him. "Hey. I saw you dropping your son off at school today". It happens. Whether kids get ahold of scissors, parents don't want to get hair cut or keep it short.
