Today, I learned I have over $10,000 in debt, despite never owning a credit card. Apparently, my ex-roommate had been replying to the credit card offers I was receiving in the mail. That also explains my missing driver's license a few months back. FML

This is fraud and is a felony. OP, turn him in and take it up with the credit bureau. He needs to go to jail for this.

You need to get the police involved. Plus, explain what happened to the credit companies and whatever the US equivalent is if the our Citizens' Advice Centre

good luck clearing your name. Husbands ex-wife did the same thing to the tune of $124,000. We reported her, the FBI got involved but she fled the country and they cannot bring her back because she pays off the police where she is. It has taken me 7 years and over $20k of my own money to clear his name. Good luck OP. I feel for you
