I don't know if that's great justification, if you want out, you're out. I'm an all-in or all-out kinda gal. If a dude said this to me I'd have to say the break was permanent.

Might be a good idea, see what it feels like to be apart for a bit. Maybe he'll realize that he misses you too much to continue the break. Could go the other way and he discovers his hearts just not in it, better to figure that out now over later.
