A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, in a bid to avoid going to the dentist, my husband decided to have one of his drunk buddies pull his tooth out with pliers. Now he has to have surgery to remove the shards of tooth left rotting in his mouth. It’s going to cost thousands. Thanks babe. FML
Today, while I was drunk, my brother decided to use pliers to pull out my bad tooth. He grabbed the wrong tooth, and when it didn’t pop out cleanly he decided he just needed to squeeze harder, and crushed the healthy tooth into splinters. I can feel the nerve with my tongue, it’s agony. FML
Today, I spent hours trying to get a piece of food out of my two front teeth. I didn't have anything I could use, until I went out to dinner and got a toothpick. I finally got the food out of teeth. The toothpick broke. Now the tip of the toothpick is stuck in my teeth. FML
Today, I cracked my tooth. I was so tired I put my pretzel stick in my tea and took a bite out of my spoon. FML
Today, after waking up from a bad migraine which caused my teeth to clench, I found out that I broke a molar. A dentist told me it split down to the bone, so I need root canal and an extended crown. Then they told me the tooth below had also broke and has to be pulled. FML
Today, I broke a tooth. It’s Friday. Not a single dentist office is open. The good news? I might lose those last few pounds as I can’t drink or eat without excruciating pain. Needless to say, it’s going to be a long weekend. FML
Today, I tried to open the door with my mouth because my hands were full. I chipped a tooth. FML
Today, after 6 dentist visits, 2 root canals, and $1,500 that I'll likely have to sell vital organs to pay, the agonizing tooth pain I've had for months is unrelenting. Apparently, shrugging and offering to experimentally yank all my bottom teeth is my smurf-shit of a dentist's actual plan. FML
Today, I canceled my dental check-up because I'm getting busy at work. Then, as I was flossing, my finger slipped, I heard a "crunch" from one of my fillings, and I now have a killer toothache. It's costing me double to go to the dentist because it's now an emergency call. FML
Today, I faced my fear of needles and had my wisdom teeth extracted while awake. On the last tooth, I heard a loud crack. The root broke off in my jawbone and had to be drilled out. FML

That would end up being way more expensive as you would battle infections or or other injuries caused by the extraction.

Please go see a professional. They are a professional for a reason and while it may be expensive now it will save you a lot of expenses later if you do it yourself or delay your treatment.

I hope you understand that wisdom teeth are not normal ones that you can just "rip out". They are actually connected to your jaw. if you want to risk breaking more than just the tooth, be my guest. The dental office should have some sort of payment plan for things like these anyway.

Maybe connected to your jaw early on but once they drop- like these probably definitely have if they're reachable AND broken- they're not connected anymore. they're literally just like normal teeth if they come in the right way, and even when they don't, they're just like normal teeth with the exception not knowing what the **** their doing. I do NOT recommend pulling yourself tho. unless you've had and seen xrays, the roots could be hooked and all sorts of other complications. ( And they may not be uncovered completely, if any are left under the gums, that shit could( read: probably will ) rot. like people here already said, the complications this could cause would definitely cost more than seeing a professional as soon as you have the funds. ) you can get some numbing medicine at the store- it definitely won't cover all of it but rub it all over the surrounding area anytime you feel pain, see if you can get through on that. I had to when one of my teeth was in a similar state.

exactly. those aren't just regular teeth, and infection/dry socket can happen even WITH a dentist. most offices and clinics do free or sliding scale work on specified days, certain times, etc. call your primary or go to the er for help.

The problem in the United States is that a lot of people literally cannot afford to do this. Despite what TV may make people think, most people don't even go to the dentists. Lots of employer health care plans don't include dental so it has to come completely out of pocket. Removing all 4 wisdom teeth can cost $1000, without any follow up appointment factored in, and if there's no complications.

They have massive roots that are sitting firmly in your jaw. You'd end up damaging your jaw and your other teeth, costing you a lot more money than the extraction by your dentist.

Look up low-cost dental aid programs, seriously. Please. They're out there, one of them will help you. My husband and I had to do it when his wisdom teeth went savage on him, and it took a few tries but we found one that would help us.

Just eat the cost and go see a professional. If you get an infection from trying to do it yourself (which will likely happen) you could die. Can't save money when you're dead.

Uh, yeah, I'm broke too. I only work part time and I have a newborn. I can't afford my hospital stay from when I gave birth and I don't get assistance. I'd rather go into more debt to not get an infection that could go to my brain than suffer and possibly die.

I wasn't saying she should do it herself...just saying it isn't as easy as simply "eating the cost" . And to my knowledge (although I could be wrong, I frequently am) a lot of dental offices require some payment up front, at least a deposit before they will even do anything so people can't just let it go to collections. She supposed to magically pull money out of her ass?

There's places that help those who can't afford it. Most of them don't require a deposit, or if they do its minimal. Beats the alternative.
