Little Red Corvette

By ferrin10 - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I was mowing lawns for my summer job. I noticed next to me a shiny new Corvette being washed by the owner. I gave a friendly wave, just as I heard a big clank as the mower blade shot a rock into the side of the car. FML

It wasn't your fault, your lawnmower did it.

guess u have to mown lawns for your life to pay now lol

offer to mow his lawn to pay him back?

Ooooo... it's more of a FHL because his NEW corvet was messed up!! But FYL of be was a tough guy who couldve beat you up. He probably made you pay for it, if he didn't you should do it out of courtesy. Even though it wasn't your fault. UNLESS, he didn't know it was you - whch I doubt- because then you would have been of the hook. But anyways FYL

Why the hell should he have to pay for it? Grass can conceal rocks so you can't even see them if you're looking at the ground in front of the mower. It was an accident, and the guy's car was parked in a bad spot.

I'm surprised you are still alive to wwrite this..

For some reason, it really bothers me when older people buy new, expensive sports cars. The owner should've been more careful with his toy. Seriously. Lawn mowers can throw things.

redbluegreen.... corvettes are not that expensive. 2009 new corvettes went for 100,000 Ferrari's were just under 200,00 and lamborghinis are 200-350,000. The bugatti Veyron is almost 600,000then you get into luxury cars and maybachs are half a mil and Rolls Royce are 3-400,000. so.... Also it never said the owner was old. OP That sucks, FYL and FHL

I don't know how much money you have, but for me $100,000 is quite a bit for a car. And how many younger people do you know have their own homes with a lawn worth having someone else mow it? I'm guessing the owner is somewhere between late 30's and somewhere in their 50's.

I'm actually kinda with fmlallthetyme. Not that I don't realize 100k is a righteous pile of money, I just grew up in a place where Corvettes are quite common. The OP should be thankful he didn't chip something worse, hahah. I hope the owner was understanding, accidents happen, and that your wave wasn't actually taunting. ;D

That is assuming the Corvette the owner had was the ZR1. The regular C6 Coupe Corvette is $50K, the Z06 $75K, and ZR1 $107K.

it never says the guy who owned the corvette was the one the op was mowing the lawn for, he was probably just the next door neighbor

Well lets hope he was insured. Sounds like an act of god, an angry god!

I always move my car when my yard is being mowed... It's always a possibilty that a rock will hit it. I say it's not your fault at all since you really had no control over that. I hope the owner didn't get too mad at you :-/
