Today, I had sex for the first time in two years. With a man I love, who is handsome, very nicely equipped, and quite good at it. I was in pain the entire time. It took me 3 tries to realize there is something physically wrong with me, and once I get it fixed, he'll be gone. FML

The person was a friend who had been making serious sexual references toward me on and off over the year I've known him. Things change, people change. When you are with a long term partner you both have the time to adapt as you go. But picking up after years or after significant personal changes, don’t expect them to be the same exact person they once were… OP, just a good example of why everyone needs to be judged on who they are now - not in the past or the future you imagine.
