Today, I finally made a good friend at work. My boss has given me a file note saying my friend and I are not to have our lunch break together. Apparently, others feel left out. FML

While this is truly outrageous and your boss should have no right to tell you who you can or cannot hang out with on your time (clocked out for lunch) you don't want to endanger your or your new friend's job. this does seem like the perfect excuse to start hanging out outside of the workday, cultivate a real friendship that might last long after you or your friend's career moves on. Good luck and shame on your fellow co-workers for complaining about being left out of your social life.
