Today, I've been asking for help to close up store for the last 7 months, at the height of a global pandemic. My boss's excuse for no help? Joe Biden and the government is keeping everyone who would earn 10 dollars an hour from working, because they are all lazy. Joe wasn't president 7 months ago. FML

Today, I got fired from a business I ran for almost 6 years. Why? The new owner refuses to close, despite our governor ordering non-essential businesses to close, and for people to stay home. I told her I wasn’t comfortable working, and that it was technically illegal. So she fired me in a group chat. FML

Today, it's been 3 weeks since I, a 17-year-old, have been working 50 hours a week at a grocery store trying to keep our shelves stocked during coronavirus panic-buying. It was also the day a customer informed me that, "All you teenagers are lazy and that's why the shelves are empty." FML

Today, just like every day, I have not gotten a single call back or email regarding a job interview since 2020. I can't even get a part-time job at McDonald's. Why? No one wants to hire someone with 10 years of experience as a manager for entry-level jobs, and no one is hiring managers from outside. FML

Today, I lost my job due to the coronavirus. I have no way to pay my bills and very few places are hiring just now. My boss tried to make me feel better by saying her husband was just laid off and they'll struggle as well. She has a £120k salary and just got a £30k bonus. Apparently, "we're in the same boat." FML

I recently started rereading George Orwell’s 1984 again for the first time in maybe 8 years. I remember reading it for the first time in middle school around 1998 and thinking that the whole “double think” shit was crazy and we would never see a world with people like that. Rereading it now, it’s ******* scary how George Orwell writes about the brainwashed masses jizzing over “Big Brother” and doing whatever mental gymnastics they needed to to justify their crazy beliefs (which were basically whatever the “telescreens”/government told them to believe, even if it was categorically the opposite of what they had been told to believe yesterday, or even within the past 5 seconds) — and how that’s literally what our world looks like today. I see people do this shit every day today and it boggles my mind. I’m sorry your boss is a dumbass ******* idiot, OP. And I’m sorry we live in a world where that kind of psychotic-ass thinking actually seems to be the new normal.
