Friends like these

Today, an old friend that I never really liked invited me to lunch while she was in town. While driving back to her car, I couldn't find my phone, so she offered to call it. She found it under the passenger seat and also saw that when she called, her name came up as "Sabrina-IGNORE". FML

I never understood why people give rude names to certain people when they enter the person's number? Is there really any way to be stupid enough to need a reminder to ignore someone?

You're stupid, you should have changed it before you went out with her. It was rude to have accepted the invitation if you didn't even like her. I hope you payed for the lunch. YDI.

I agree with #2. Giving people just names on your phone is so ignorant and childish. If your going to make fun of that particular person then why add them to your phone? A little common sense, honestly.

@13 Then why wouldn't she just add a last name to both Sabrinas? Unless she really does need a reminder of who she hates... Even so, I still don't get why you would go to lunch with her if you didn't like her.

Even if she didn't know the last name, she could add something more innocuous like "Sabrina - school" or "Sabrina - work" or whatever that refers to where she knows her from. That's usually what I do, too, especially with people I don't have all that much to do with. But if OP never really liked her, a) why do you refer to her as a friend and b) why do you hang out with her? Getting lunch with her, okay, you may have your reasons, but why on earth do you refer to people you do not like as a "friend"?

it's because, if Sabrina 'drunk' dialed this friend, and the friend was also drunk, she could pathetically look at her phone and make out the letters 'IGNORE' then not pick up...since, for most, everyone is our friends with a few drinks in our system. they didn't like each other anyway, that's why i have the letters '-NO' after some of the names in my phone book. I don't want to hear from them, nor call them. but if they do call, i know not to pick up, sober or w/ a few. lessens the temptation. why start something

Well sometimes you needa know, like I know several andrews but one particular one is creepy and I dont like talking to him. However, I just go with the DPU system, so I'll write andrew (dpu) as his name in my phone. DPU = Don't Pick Up

Wow! Champion douche. I am just imagining Sabrina's FML: I had lunch today with someone I thought was a really good friend. We had a really great time and I thought it was nice to see him, until while helping him find his cell phone, I called it and my name appeared on the called id followed by the word "IGNORE". FML

KARMA 4 SURE!! That really sucks tho. Specially if u started to like her as a friend.

Only in the state that means "Friend" can you have "an old friend that I never really liked." Life is different in Texas.

-edit- wtf this was suppsoed to be a reply to number 4!

just as well. her name is the crappy spelling of mine, ZABRINA FTW!
