Today, I got a new trainee at work. She was the experimental one-night stand I’d had several months back and never called again. She kept making remarks about how excited she is to be working under me again and winking. This is gonna be a long couple of weeks. FML

Honestly it could have been worse; she could have been mean and vindictive. She was probably trying to be nice about it and make the most of an awkward situation.

Make absolutely sure that your boss knows about your circumstances and, if possible, never be alone with her anywhere. It’s very easy to turn a situation like this into a he-said-she-said, and you want to nip this in the bud rather than do damage control.

even if you didn't want to continue a relationship with her, you should have called her and told her so. it would have saved you a bunch of awkwardness.
