Today, my sister asked me, while making a cup of green tea with honey, "I wonder why they call it honey?" I replied, "Probably some Greek or Latin word meaning 'to sweeten'." She stopped, turned and with a serious face asked, "Where exactly is Latin?" FML

For the record, it actually came from an Old Germanic word meaning "golden yellow". The more you know.

Her age could really factor into this. A 7 year saying that would't be that weird, but if your sister is 20 or so, there are some issues.

Not really worth an FML, more of a "My Family is ******* Stupid."

People on FML dislike the smallest jokes lol

Well, Latin is actually the ancient name of what is now called Latvia. You see, way back in olden times, a group of dudes from Rome liked to call themselves the "Lads" and then there was this group of metal miners who the Lads liked to call the Tins. There was an outbreak of tiger attacks and the two groups had to work together and form the land of Latin in order to defeat the tigers. As time went by, they had to continually move their country around by pulling up the strips of grass and toting it by camel across the continents until they finally settled in Eastern Europe. But the tigers were insanely vengeful and they hunted the Latins. Eventually, they knew the only way to solve their problem was to rename themselves Latvia. They donned fur and mustaches and waited for the tigers to arrive. The tigers were very confused when they lost the trail of the Latins in a strange new land of mustaches but eventually decided to leave their mission and return homes. The Latin's celebrated their victory and eventually decided that Latvia was a better name after all. The more you know...
