Show it anywayWhile this may in fact be bs, that's the oldest recorded bottle that was sold. If you've ever cleaned out a horders house, you never know what can be buried in the mess or tucked in the back of a closet somewhere. When my great grandmother died, they had to cut open every cushion, take the hems out of every curtain, check every can of dry goods in the cupboard, check every pocket, etc. bc she had money hidden literally everywhere.
A quick Google search shows that the oldest bottles of whisky that has been sold in modern time was from 1834, so I don't know where you've got your information from but it's completely wrong. Also, whisky has been distilled for several hundred years, so it's very possible that even older bottles could show up
Forbes did a story last year about whiskey that was distilled in 1833, selling at auction for $10,000 per bottle, with around 24 bottles for sale. So estimated price overall was $240,000, and the whiskey was almost 100 years older than what you suggested. On the plus side you now have your own story for FML! Yay!
