I don’t know about you but my stove is just the top heating area above my oven... and I’ve never seen it any different...
OP could have a wall oven. A lot of newer homes have 2 separate units- an oven and a range or stove.
You can just wait for the plastic to cool and peel it up out of the oven instead of replacing the entire stove.

She should have to buy you a new stove since she was the one insisting on using a crappy dish that ruined the whole thing. What the heck was it made of, anyway, that it melted? Wow...
I had something like that happen at my old apartment. I had a plastic cutting board on top of the stove and turned on the broiler. It melted into the oven, destroying my board. I finally tuned the broiler back on and let it melt into the oven. Easy cleanup after that. Don't replace the oven
