Today, a group of guys came into my restaurant, dressed up in some kind of role-playing game clothing. Apparently I pronounced one of their fake elf names wrong, because the guy complained to my manager, who then bitched me out in front of everyone for upsetting the customers. FML

Today, as a restaurant manager, I had a large party of difficult guests. They sat in their private room they'd reserved for three-and-a-half hours, then caused a huge scene when it was time to pay. One guy even ran at me like he was going to hit me. FML
Today, a man tried to rob the store I work at. Before the guy was taken by the cops, he complained to my manager for "unfriendly behavior". He took it seriously and bitched me out for not providing "quality service" to our customers. FML
Today, I had the supreme mega ultra final bosses of Karens. I knew I was cooked when they approached my brunch bar. I didn’t ID them because they were all very obviously 35+. They took immense offense to this and demanded to speak to my manager. They told on me for doing my job. FML
Today, I realized I might lose my job because some asshole customer complained about me to my district manager. His complaint? Girls can't work at video game stores. My DM agreed. FML
Today, a customer came into the music shop I work in to look at guitars. After calling the customer "Dude," and "Man," numerous times, they stalked off suddenly. When I asked if everything was okay, they responded with, "I'm female, you asshole!" FML
Today, I was shopping at my workplace, out of uniform, with my husband. A customer recognised me and wanted me to serve him, but I couldn't since we can be fired for doing so while off-duty. He complained to my manager, who wasted no time publicly bitching me out. FML
Today, in a restaurant, staff asked me to fix my skirt because multiple customers complained my buttcrack was putting them off their food. I thought the waiter was using fake complaints to justify his rudeness, but when I got up to fix it fully, half the restaurant applauded me. FML
Today, I was taking a table's order. After I finished, the guy told me, "Just FYI, I'm not a tipper." Trying to lighten up the situation, I replied, "It's amazing how many people forget I handle their food." He complained to the manager that I'd threatened him. FML
Today, two customers complained about the shitty service they received from my coworkers. I apologized and asked about the complaint. Their issues were legitimate and I promised to pass them on. They demanded to speak to my manager and my coworkers got in trouble. Now they think I'm a snitch. FML
Today, a customer at work said his table was dirty. I asked which one he was sitting at so I could clean it for him. For some bizarre reason he got pissed and called my manager over. He ended up reporting us to corporate, and my manager got written up. He's blaming me for everything. FML

And the more I read those two first sentences the less likely I think it is. My real question is why did OP even try to pronounce the elflord's name? Just take the order and deliver the food. What is so "not normal" about LARP'ing? I don't LARP myself, but I don't point and tease at those that do. Civil War re-enacting is considered to be LARP'ing, and you don't see anyone condemning the old timers who embrace it... You'll be surprised how mainstream a lot of geeky/nerdy stuff is nowadays, so when you think about it, it's a perfectly normal and ordinary thing to encounter.

I agree with the fact that they were horrible LARPers if that is really what they were doing, and not simple cosplay. Unless of course they were RPing that they were sucked into another dimension and had to conform to the rules of that new world, as they learned in the last tavern they visited. OP, be glad you aren't in the first restaurant staff they encountered, which is probably currently hospitalized and waiting to press charges.

Actually to the people thumbing this one down. Managers can't chastise employees in front of other employees or the customer. It's very unprofessional and just makes it 10x worst for the employee in trouble. What should have happened is the manager apologize to the customers and take the employee to the office or constructive criticism. Unless OP is over exaggerating.
