Today, after finally finishing a huge internal rebranding project at work, which I've poured blood, sweat and tears into over the last 12 months, I found out we're being acquired by another company and that our new brand will no longer exist. FML
Today, after being with the company for over 3 years, I realised nobody really knows my name. This was after my boss was walking around a new staff member and couldn't introduce me. Neither could my colleague, who's been sitting next to me for the last 6 months. FML
Today, the company I was fired from three years ago merged with the company I work at now. The new owners' first order of business was to fire me again. FML
Today, I got a raise at work. It will bring my hourly wage to about a cent more per hour. Our CEO just reported record-breaking profits for the year. FML
Today, my boss thanked me for all my hard work and promised me a raise and a promotion. Shortly thereafter, she sent out a memo announcing she'd sold the company. The new owner immediately came in to "restructure." I got demoted. FML
Today, my boss finally pronounced my name correctly. My name was then followed by the words, "You're fired." FML
Today, my boss announced that instead of holiday bonuses being on the cards, the company is going under and we'll all be out of a job next year. FML
Today, I got raise at work. It's $3 per month. FML
Today, after 3 years at my job I received a 14% raise. I was informed I will be transitioned from hourly to salary. I will now be making $1500 LESS than I made last year. FML
Today, after three years of working at my current occupation, they decided to give me a bonus for all of my hard work and effort. A 5$ gift card to Cold Stone. FML

Or they are barely making enough to get by as it is, making it impossible for them to leave the company for a lower paying job that will have raises in the future.

I disagree. In this economy, you should take what you can get. If you work hard at McDonald's, you can become manager. I've heard they make pretty good money. Don't feel like you're above flipping patties.

No way. I've worked at McDonald's for a year now, and it's terrible. Managers have it even worse. Plus it takes at least a year to become a manager; unless your store doesn't have very many. In that time you could definitely get a better job.

Mcdonalds is not a job, a job is something that you can support yourself with. At best that place would be considered a work reference. Plus manager promotions only net you about $1.50 more and hour and usually pigeonhole you into an even less affordable healthcare package. But hey! At least you'll have dental!!

Some people will take anything to support their lives. To be honest if I had a choice to be homeless or work at mcdonalds-I would work at mcdonalds.. at least I have a roof over my head, at least a meal a day. No one wants to die on the streets of starvation...diseases. Whatever the cause may be. NO ONE. Unless you're an idiot.
