Today, I was gushing about my love for Disney princesses when someone told me I "definitely needed to calm down." By whom? A four-year-old girl. FML

OP, hi! I can definitely be talkative sometimes, but that's actually not what happened here. I was at my friend's house and we were trying to pick a movie to watch when I noticed they had Aladdin. We got into a silly argument over whether to watch that or some action flick when I started dramatically singing and talking about all my favorite Disney princesses for laughs. Little did I know, during that time, my friend's little sister had wandered in and was staring at me. The whole room quieted down and then we heard that little bit of sass- "You definitely need to calm down." We all laughed so hard we cried.

This just means you weren't singing "Part of Your World" loud enough. Try harder!

I won't lie. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie. Well that and Brave Little Toaster. :)

Or Nickelodeon, or Pixar, or Dreamworks, or Cartoon Network, or Sesame Street, or Barney.

I prefer Cinderella, Mulan, Snow White, and that new one with Frog Princess.......You can never be too old for Disney.....although I really hate all that garbage Disney stuff they put out now.....with all new Disney stars.

Fine. Or Disney Channel, or Nick, or Pixar, or Dreamworks. Better?

Have you not seen brave? One of the best Disney movies yet.

I don't know if this movie was from Disney or not, but it's the one with all the talking books. I want to say it's called The Pagemaster. ******* loved that shit when I was a kid. And for all you cartoon lovers there's Fritz the Cat. Though, I wouldn't watch that with your children. Anyone who's seen it knows what I mean haha.

Disney was actually really good, back then when movies and shows actually had a real message

Obviously that little girl is too old for Disney.

Exactly. I'm 19 and watch Disney channel still.

who could possibly forget Robin Williams and Gilbert Gottfried in the same movie?

I was just told recently that my favorite princess (Sleeping Beauty) is the most useless princess.

naarz 9

Yes someone else likes Mulan, and loll Sleeping Beauty was pretty useless compared to the rest, the others did something to be crown a princess.

The little girl doesn't know what she's talking about.

somebody's parents definitely don't let them watch cartoons. if you're four and you're already trying to be mature and telling people to grow up then I feel truly sorry for you. Child hood is an early apology for the insanity that is adulthood it should always be fun.

I just hope the girl was thinking about the Hannah Montana Disney and not classic Disney.

I didn't grow up watching Disney movies. Up until just recently I had only seen a handful and having and older brother is a big part of it too, but I watched plenty of cartoons and a bunch of pg-13/R rated movies too. I think I turned out just fine. Lol.

Actually little kids have no filter and often times just call it like it is. YDI OP based on the fact that you were being so gushy that a 4 year old had to tell you to shut up.

So I was right, you went a little overboard and you were not as funny as you thought you were lol. On another note it sounds like you were having a good time! That's what matters.

merember 1

No, that's not what she said at all. She said that she was hanging out and having fun with her friends and just being silly for fun. That's not overboard.

#91: Are you the little girl that sass talked OP?

yes, Josh is the little trash talking girl

Yeah Josh, the whole world doesn't revolve around you. You need to calm down.

are u a girl or a guy? I new a guy who loved princesses so not out of the ordinary for me

I dvr'd aladdin(fave disney movie) and accidently deleted it this year -.-;

I had an ex that was exactly like this! haha I watched the lion king 23 times in one year thanks to her, I still randomly bust out circle of life...

#127: That's not necessarily bad. I love people who begin flash mobs so the rest of us that are too shy can join in the fun.

Jeez you must be a bundle of fun and have many friends with an attitude like that. Dick.

I say Reflection. Awesome song, and so much power and meaning behind it. OP should've started with that to sing, if anything :3

OP here! Just wanted to say... At the moment, I was singing "A Whole New World" :D

SuperMew 22

Oh, it wasn't just talking it was a whole musical? That would be obnoxious.

happyfingers 15

I see nothing wrong with this. Sing away fellow Disney lover! :D

My friend loves to sing Colours of the Wind. And Just Around the River bend

I wasn't actually singing the whole thing. Just a little bit to make my friends laugh. My voice has that effect on people.

To the op I know how you feel I'm 35 female I love little memaid Got Disney little mermaid perfume and eye shadow set and fancy compact at sephora and little mermaid pullover sweater from hot topic There jasmine make up and perfume at sephora.com Disney stuff at hot topic

I would've started to sing songs from the movies. You can't stop the Disney; it lives forever in us! She'll understand when she's older...

ThatFancyPenn 18

Eh probably not.. Disney ifs kinda going downhill now. Only making movies/TV shows with real people not cartoons which was the good stuff.

I'm assuming you haven't heard of Brave or Frozen? Or even Tangled?

Probably would have been the cutest sass ever from a 4 year old girl. But Disney princesses are awesome. I was Cinderella for Halloween like three or four years in a row when I was little.

She obviously doesn‘t get what she‘s missing! Don‘t worry Disney is definitely something almost everyone gets excited about. ^^ (maybe she is just a witch in disguise?)

SuperMew 22

While I do enjoy Disney movies, I know a lot of people who think Disney is not that good. Mostly comes from the idea that you need to be beautiful, a princess, and have a rich husband in some of the early ones.

Thats a poor excuse. That was history, not something Disney made up to be funny.

SuperMew 22

I never said it was the best excuse. That was what I was told by several different people. I loved the Little Mermaid and I got lectured by a teacher on how that would "teach you to be self centered and think only of love. You don't have to be a princess to be happy. Blah blah blah." I like to think girls are a bit smarter than believing they will marry a prince or live with dwarfs in the wilderness. I think Disney movies are a great thing for kids to have, it is all in good fun. I love 101 Dalmatians and a lot of the animal movies they had.

actually there is truth to that. i learned in an intro to children's lit class that the vulnerable, beautiful woman that found her prince archetype goes back a long way and is meant to suggest those themes. times were different. same with many popular themes in children's stories. but Disney certainly didn't come up with Cinderella, and original versions had Cinderella slicing the Achilles tendon of her step-sisters and other dark, bloody endings. a lot of those early movies are among many reinventions of already existing works.

It's really interesting too, to read the original stories before Disney recreated them to be so sweet and innocent. Back to Cinderella, the step sisters cut off chunks of their foot to make the shoe fit. their heel and toe. In Snow White, when the Queen was given the pig's heart thinking it was Snow White's she ate it. They're really quite gnarly and when I first read them it baffled me to know they made such gruesome stories into children's stories.

89- those gruesome stories were always children's fairy tales. Back then, fairy tales were meant to frighten children into behaving more than anything. But apparently Disney decided kids couldn't handle that and that they should have easy happy endings. I think the originals were more interesting though.

That's because she never grew up with these movies in her childhood and doesn't understand the passion...or you might really just need to calm down.

Give her a nice, shiny apple. She won't suspect it!

It's no Cinderella to love Disney princesses. In fact, some people love them so much they fly over Disney World just to get an Ariel view of the park. You should definitely try to forget this and relax - maybe make a nice cup of Tiana (Jasmine is my favourite) and look at some tranquil pictures of the Aurora borealis or perhaps some Snow White mountains. I hope this rings a Belle. Good luck.

You, sir, have just been awarded +10 internets. That was ******' brilliant.

SuperMew 22

This is a Maleficent comment, Doc Bastard.

I hope you weren't Cruella towards the girl after that comment, OP.

SuperMew 22

She's four. She was most likely parroting something her mother says to her 50 times a day and this one time it fit the context.
