Unmatch
Today, after recently discovering that I need a bone marrow transplant, my girlfriend got tested to see if she could be a donor. When the results came back with a negative match, she blurted out, "Oh thank god." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my girlfriend called and said she had great news. Turns out I've cured her of that illness she gets every month. FML
Today, my doctor informed me that the tests we've been doing the previous months show no sign of leukemia. I was just about to express my relief when he casually followed up with, "Never mind, there's still a lot of other blood-related diseases we need to look out for." FML
Today, my girlfriend tells me she missed her period this month. I felt excited until she said, "I will let you know the results of the paternity test." I was not aware we needed a paternity test. FML
Today, I was hanging with my mates when we found an old pregnancy test. Since I’m a guy, we thought it’d be hilarious if I took it. It came out positive, so we were roaring with laughter. That is, until someone looked up why. Turns out, I might have cancer. FML
Today, my boss told me his cancer test results came back positive. I congratulated him and asked how he planned to celebrate. It turns out a positive cancer test result is a bad thing. FML
Today, I donated blood and the nurse said: "God blesses good deeds", when I get home, my mom tells me that we have to sell the house because we're broke. FML
Today, I had to explain to my boyfriend why period blood couldn't be saved and donated to the hospital for transplants. FML
Today, I found out via a Twitter post that my girlfriend is pregnant. FML
Today, I visited my ex-girlfriend's house. I saw her mother and asked, "Hi! Have you recovered from that nasty cold that you had for so long?" She said, "I don't have a cold," to which I smiled and said, "That's great to hear!" Turns out she has lung cancer instead. FML
Today, my buddy told me he was going to get an HIV test at the health department. Without thinking, I told him to "think positive". FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

She still got tested. I think she would have gone through with it if she was indeed a match, but anyone (including myself) would be dreading the surgery.

It was a nice gesture that she tested to see if she could, but that wasn't really a proper response, even if she was afraid to go through with the procedure. Good luck finding a doner OP!

ouch, that must've felt like shit.. I wish I was near you OP as I swear I would've done the test to see if I was a match and be the donor just to see the look on that ****'s face (for those who are gonna say how can I say that about her, I know she've done the test but that was some shitty insensitive thing to say to her "boyfriend").

Well sometimes you just cannot control yourself. Nobody's perfect, and one mistake doesn't mean she's a horrible person. I had leukemia and my family had to be tested for bone marrow transplant too, an if one of them had reacted like that, that would have hurt, sure, but I'm sure I would have ended up understanding and forgiving. People can be so judgmental around here... Anyway, good luck finding a donor op, and I wish you recover fast.

69, (to me) you're coming across just as insensitive. Giving false hope. I doubt you truly mean your offer to this stranger. I hope the OP reads your comment and comes knocking on your door looking for you to keep your "promise".

Best wishes! Hopefully you will find a match and come out OK. I likely have one of those in my future as well.

I hope all of you people hoping he finds a match soon are going out signing up for the bone marrow registry. The more of us there are, the better his chances of finding a match.

I have to agree with 76. You always hear about donating to breast cancer, but rarely other cancers. I heard of DKMS only once on NPR and never have heard anything for it again. It is a good program to register for. If you go to getswabbeddotorg, they send you a registration pack. It can truly save someone's life. *I do not represent this organization in any way. I just feel it is a great organization that needs to be just as prominent as Susan G. Komen foundation.

I don't think it's a FML. Your girlfriend apparently was ready to undergo some very unpleasant procedure to help you. It's only natural for her to feel at least a moment of relief when she found out she won't have to.

Wow, that's a caring gf right there

Don't get mad at her, most people are terrified of being donors. The fact she at least got tested means if she was a match she would have.

I am sorry op. but that is a very painful procedure, so I can understand. I am sure she would of gone through with it had it been positive.

she probably would have gone through with it if she was a match. but I would be glad for an instant too if I found out I wouldn't be having a massive needle put into a bone.... one of the most painful medical procedures out there I hear... all the best for you though. hope you find a match.
