Today, my learner's permit expired. I let this happen knowing that I'd get my license soon and didn't wanna waste money on a renewal. little did I know you need the permit to take the test. Oh and you can't renew expired permits. So I'm back to square 1. FML.

Agreed. My husband did the same thing. Here you have 3 years to renew, and he still didn't so he had to retake the learner's exam which means waiting another year before he can take his driver's exam. If this were an actual FML, I'd say YDI.

Your logic is so indescribably idiotic that it's funny. Welcome to life, friend, where things aren't just handed to you if you wait long enough for them. You have to work towards what you want in order to get it. It's probably a good thing you're back at square one. I wouldn't want someone like you on the road if my life depended on it.

He didn't think he'd automatically get his license when the permit expired. He was already planning on taking the road test soon and thought it wouldn't matter whether or not he paid to renew.
