Today, my daughter mentioned that she didn't need to work because she could convert a dollar to 13 Mexican pesos and convert it back into "13 USD", over and over again. She's 17. FML

Or maybe show her khanacademy? They have a few playlists on finances and basic micro/macro economy. It's completely free and the quality is very good.

Well, the OPs daughter was close. The only step missing is the step of causing the US economy to collapse to cause the value of USD to plummet immediately before converting her pesos back to USD.

Write this down for her: 1 USD = 13 pesos Therefore, 13 pesos = ? USD She'll work it out. If not, take her on a field trip to the bank.

I would say let her try to do this and when it fails, try to help her understand why. But I think she may need some counseling though. To think that one doesn't need a job, one needs to get a wider perspective from someone outside the family. She also needs a wake up call.
