My thoughts exactly. If you had been over them, the news would not have brought you to tears. If I were to find out any of my exes had passed, I would shrug it off.
Actually, the exact opposite is true. If you have completely moved on from your ex and are not holding onto any feelings (good or bad), then you would react to their death the same as any other old acquaintance. You would mourn their passing like anyone else. But if you react to their death by saying, "good" or "pfft, like I give a shit..." then you were definitely never over the break up. People who are "over it" don't want their ex dead.

entirely natural, everyone reacts to death differently regardless of past circumstances. hopefully your partner will be more understanding soon.

That's horrible. Not everyone ends relationships badly, they may have ended on good terms and her ex was someone who was once an important part of her life. Why can't she cry after finding out someone she used to love has passed away? You're all horrible for judging her on that.
