Today, it's my birthday. My boss's birthday is 5 days away. Instead of wishing me happy birthday, the staff decided to surprise my boss with an early gift. We also had to take a picture of him with everyone. I work at another branch alone, and had to post the picture to social media. Happy Birthday to me, I guess. FML

Today, it's my birthday. At my workplace, we always get a cake for whoever's birthday it is. They somehow forgot about me. I've been working there for a year, and my grandparents and my dad own the restaurant I work at. FML

Today, it was my birthday. Normally, the little office I work in throws a big party for every employee on their special day, but nothing was done for me, not even a "Happy Birthday" came my way. I didn't want to be rude, so I stayed silent. They didn't do anything because I was getting laid off. FML

Today, it was my co-worker's birthday but she told me not to mention it. Feeling bad for her, I went out to buy her a card, a present, and even a small cake. It turns out that there was actually a party during our lunch break, and I was the only one in our office not invited. FML

Today, I celebrated my birthday with my friend who has the same birthday by going out to dinner with a bunch of our friends. The waiter brought out a cake for my friend but not for me. No one noticed my exclusion. I sang happy birthday on my birthday. FML

Today, I turned 29. To celebrate, my office got me a cake that read "Happy 38th!!" The "theme" of the "party" was 'Not a day over 35!' I waited all day for someone to tell me it was all a prank, but nobody did. I spent my lunch hour crying in my car. Happy birthday to me. FML

Today, I found out that my work threw me a birthday party alongside my coworker’s birthday. Said coworker spread a rumor, telling everyone that I wanted each person to buy me flowers and cake. Everyone thought that I was a weirdo for asking for those things from them. I wasn't at work today. FML

Oh the Birthday entitlement! Lots of people don't get anything for their birthdays...and you're upset you don't get a whole cake from work. I got a call 2 days late and it was my cellphone provider telling me I missed my unlimited calling for the day. Unless you're a child birthdays are just another day unfortunately.

I think OP was more upset they were excluded, but you really seem like you've been disappointed on your own birthday. Hopefully this year or the next someone makes your birthday a nice one; there is nothing wrong with celebrating yourself once a year.

Perhaps a tad jaded. ;) My birthdays haven't meant anything to me ever really, all my siblings were drama and rebellion so I just faded into the background. Now, I'm so unmemorable I guess, it just passes like any other day.

My work used to do the same. I remember they would say "Happy birthday to everyone in the month of X" and have us stand up. They'd then read them from a sheet. November, 2011, had life not interfered, I'd still be standing.
