Today, it was the second anniversary of the day I met my girlfriend. I had to go to work, but I set an engagement ring and a letter on my pillow for when she woke up, and left breakfast for her on the counter. When I got home, she and all of her things were gone. FML

Today, I got home early from work at 2am to find my girlfriend of 5 years missing. Upon further inspection, I caught the "other man" dropping her off out front. So much for the engagement ring I bought for her. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend while we were on my couch having a romantic moment. She seemed incredibly excited when she saw the ring and put it on. The way she bolted out the door tells me I'm not going to see her again. FML
Today, I got a card from the jewelry store thanking me for purchasing an engagement ring a year ago and wishing me and my fiancée a long and everlasting marriage. Too bad my fiancée took off with the pizza delivery boy 6 months ago. FML
Today, after three years with my dream girl, I decided to pop the question by making her complete a scavenger hunt ending in her finding me, suit and everything, by the park bench where we had our first kiss. She came home tired and, instead of following the clues, decided to watch TV all day. FML
Today, I was sleeping in after working a graveyard shift. I awoke to my girlfriend sneaking her stuff out of the house. She planned on leaving her key on my pillow and taking off without any notice whatsoever. FML
Today, I got home and my girlfriend was wearing the ring I bought last week. Apparently she found it and thought to herself, "Fuck it, we’re engaged now so I’ll just start wearing it", completely bypassing the actual proposal part of getting engaged. I’m actually really mad at her right now. FML
Today, my fiancée broke up with me over text message while I was away for work. She later posted photos of her and her new boyfriend on Facebook, while still wearing my engagement ring. FML
Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend. I had been hiding the ring in the sock drawer. When I went to retrieve it, the ring was gone and in its place was a sticky note that said "NO." FML
Today, I woke up to a note on my nightstand from my fiancée, along with the ring I proposed to her with yesterday, which stated that not only was she not ready to be married, but she’d been planning to end things before I “blindsided" her. FML
Today, I left to go home for Christmas holidays. I got 3 hours away and realised I forgot the presents. Along with the engagement ring I was going to give to my girlfriend. FML

You should have waited until you could in person and two years of knowing someone for me at least is too soon maybe not for you but that might have been the problem

Hey everyone, first I was shocked to find my FML up here, then I started to read the comments. I just had to create an account in order to reply, I wanted to set a few things straight. I did things this way because she never made any fuss about any anniversaries and always told me it was the little gestures that counted. She always went nuts for little surprises (once I left concert tickets in her desk drawer, another time it was a brochure in one of her books). She liked sweet gestures, not grand performances. We had discussed spending our lives together, but not specifically marriage. Maybe we had different thoughts in our heads. I had considered the day off, but she had decided to work too that day, but she works from home on a different schedule, so I decided to do everything I usually do in the morning so she wouldn't suspect anything until she saw it. We had planned on me cooking a nice dinner after work, and going to a play she'd wanted to see. Maybe I should have waited until then, I really thought this would be more her speed though. It wasn't a wimpy letter, it was a full, handwritten six page confession of love and how much I wanted to be with her for the rest of our lives. The ring was in one of those black fabric boxes like in the movies. For those of you that wonder what happened to it, at first she took it, but I guess someone convinced her otherwise because it arrived in my mailbox in an envelope this morning. The breakfast was gone, and the dishes were cleaned and put away as though she'd never been there. I haven't talked to her. I tried calling a few times but she wont pick up. Her friends deny all involvement. I hope she'll call me back or pick up soon. Then we can try and figure out what went wrong, if it was the way I proposed or the fact I did. If my boyfriend proposed to me without being there in person (possibly excluding long distance relationships) I would be offended. It would tell me that its not even worth his taking a day off, or doing it after work, or whatever. He couldn't be bothered to stick around to propose and I'm supposed to say yes to him? I probably wouldn't just leave, but there is a pretty good chance I would break up with him.
