Today, I moved out of my apartment by the highway and airport, and into a new place below people who blast loud music, stomp their feet, and slam doors throughout the night. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in over a year. FML

Well, I get disability because I can't walk well and am really sick so I barely make enough to put up my part of the rent, let alone move. My best friend/roommate has already complained.

You can complain to like the residence office. Sorry I'm not sure what it's called exactly, but they'll give them a warning. We had people EXACTLY like that at my dads old apartment and they gave them a warning and once they got too many complaints, they were kicked out.

Buy some noise cancellation headphones and you should be fine.

Listen to music as you sleep, that's what I'd do.

I would have cussed them out by now.

FML and it's little today usage when talking about stuff that has been happening/happened over a year, surely amusing. But hey, not complainin'

I would bash the ceiling with a broom or something, I hate noisy buildings!

instead of move, just follow the advice of the fml above this one. troll the shit out of some local forums and leave the upstairs address. after a few ass woopins, they will move.

44- By "I haven't had a descent night's sleep in over a year", I think OP was talking about his/her previous apartment. As in, "I just spent a year living next to an airport/highway so I couldn't sleep because it was always so loud, and I just found out my new neighbors are also just as loud. I havent slept well for the past year, and now will never sleep again. FML."

It's kind of a douchemove, but when my mother's company shows apartments they show "model apartments". She owns multiple complexes and when tours are given to potential renters the management only show model apartments. *shrug*

He/She may have done that, but not at night.

It's called a noise ordinance. And like OP, I haven't had a decent night's sleep in ages. To be precise, 20 years. I get by on 2-3 hours per night. I feel you, OP.

Talk with the landlord and they'll stop. Hopefully.
