one it was never said if it was the boss bussiness and if is not than it may be against company policy to hire friends or family, if the economy is bad then the company should not be taking on new employees so you would have a case, and last it is law under the ideal of common law, meaning that it dosen't have to be something written down, reverse discrimination
Take what hours you can and start looking for another job. That company is doomed. Never work for an employer who staffs family. NEVER, EVER, EVER!!!
**** nepotism!
blood is thicker than water.
The economy is tough, but I think you should quietly start looking for another job. If the boss owns the company, he has already shown you that he prefers to hire and promote family. If he doesn't, management is tolerating his nepotism, and that's not good.
Today, I asked my dad to help me out by getting me a job at his business, but he turned me down to give extra hours to some stranger. FML. Actually, my version does sound way more selfish and whiny. FYL.
kick his ass and dump his body in a lake
I think you have a reason to be upset but also remember where other people are coming from. I have to work at my parent's business instead of other people, but I work for free. My parents don't have money in this economy to pay for employees. Maybe your boss is the same way.
