Today, I finally finished restoring a car after working on it for 6 months, so I took it out for a drive. On the way back, I stopped at a red light, but the drunk driver behind me didn't. FML

Hey guys, I'm the OP. It was 67 mustang fastback and I was driving it home from the workshop late at night. And to all those wondering, no the car didn't survive because the asshole was driving a truck, it's sitting in a garage but I don't even know if I'm going to go look at it for a while now.

I do hope you are okay and that he got arrested for drunk driving. Remember this could have ended way worse, he could have ended up killing someone. Good luck with re-restoring your car or getting a new one!

That's ******* disgusting OP, I hope the ******** gets everything he deserves. I'm so sorry about your car, hopefully you'll sue the dick for enough to buy another '67.

I know that really sucks about your car, but thank your lucky stars you're able to write a FML about it. Scary.

The messed up thing about this is most insurance companies won't let you have collision insurance on most older vehicles ( cause it often costs more to restore then it's worth ) and most won't replace after factory parts unless there's an agreement with the company, plus the sentimental value is huge I feel so bad for the op

That sucks man! All that work! I feel for you.

This is why we can't have nice things. As a fellow gear head I share your anger and frustration.

I would cry if If I wasn't to cheap for a project car and actually got one then restored it then had some drunk asshole hit it. What type of car?

Insurance normally doesn't cover cars this old, and frankly I didn't get time to even check if they did.

Sucks that insurance doesn't cover old cars like that... A real shame :(

some insurance companies do offer riders for special paint or special equipment and this is an antique car but of course you do have to have a chance to sign up for it and there's pictures and verification and all that FYL

omfg that's worst case scenario right there. even if u do have full coverage insurance on it the insurance company can't pay u for all the blood sweat and tears u put into ur car. fyl op

Aww, I'm so sorry. That must be so frustrating. Hopefully it is not badly damaged, though it doesn't sound that's very likely.

I'm in the process of restoring a pickup so I know how much you would cherish that hard work

Well at least your ok OP! God I hate it when you do something that took all your time and effort and it ends up getting ruined in the end! You should press charges on him as soon as possible!
