Today, after dating the love of my life for a year, my parents refuse to give their blessing for us to be engaged, because he's two years younger than me and "people change as they age." FML

You have been dating for a year. Maybe wait a bit longer?

I mean, it's only been a single year. They are probably wise to advise you to take the time to really consider your future with him. Wait a little longer and make sure you really know he's the one for you.

A year only ? well, I can understand their decision, especially if you are under 18

How old are you and how long have you known each other? My husband and I got engaged after a year too, but we were 28 and had been close friends for 12 years before we dated. If you're in your early 20's and have only known each other for a year your parents may be right.

If you're over 23 fyl if you're younger ydi and you should wait.

your parents are telling the truth!

I wish you luck. There's no cheat code to a lasting relationship, all you can do is what feels right and hope for the best! If you both want an adult relationship you're going to have to stick with your convictions and hope time proves your parents wrong.

Haha well my boyfriend and I have been together over 2 years and we're 7 years apart.

You have only been together for a year ...no wonder they said no.

my mom is 6years older than my dad. they are one of the greatest couples ever. don't give up.
