Thoughts and prayers

By wil - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff - United States - Nashville

Today, my girlfriend broke up with me because "God" told her to. I guess "God" didn't have any problems with me buying dinner first. FML

Steal some food out of house and tell her that 'God' told you to

Damn... Looks like "God" really has it in for you. Although, I think we all know it was probably Castiel or Metatron. My money is on Metatron. The plan is just about evil enough to fit his profile. Am I displaying my "nerd" too much? Yeah... Probably.

Maybe 'God' just fancied a nice dinner before 'God' broke your heart.

That's rough OP. Hopefully you'll find a better girl soon.

That sucks OP, people like that are unbearable.

This reminds me of some shit my mom would do. Like God told me to take your birthday money bullshit.

Sorry, OP. Don't worry about it, you'll definitely find someone better. Maybe she'll even say that God told her that you both were meant to be. :)

I hate it when people use God as an excuse. I am a Christian myself. If you're gonna break up with someone, come up with a real reason.

How is this any less of a real reason? If she believes in God and he doesn't, then Bible is pretty clear that they shouldn't be together.

@53, there is some dispute on that regarding the content of the Pauline Epistles, both encouraging the faithful to seek marriage within their community (partners should be equally yoked) but also upholding the sanctity of marriages between believers and nonbelievers and specifically telling NOT to dissolve those marriages. Whether you put the emphasis on the encouragement within or the upholding without varies. This is assuming she IS Christian, which really wasn't established here, and that he isn't, which ALSO isn't established here. Moreover, she didn't actually say "my religion doesn't allow romantic relationships with nonbelievers" or "I want to date inside my faith." She said "We can't date: God said so." The first two are things would not be unusual on a personals ad, the last makes it sound like God looked down at OP and said "nope, try again." Sorry OP, FYL

All these comments are I'm sry I hope it wasn't 2 expensive, if it was a guy who did this the reactions would be a lot dofferent

No they wouldn't, the reactions are clearly blaming her, and they would do the same if the guy broke up with the girl, claiming that God told him to.

Why can't people leave gender out of anything ffs, 'but if it was the other way around..' Well it's not the other way round, offer something insightful to an actual problem instead of making pointless assumptions
