Work on why he needed to dress like a girl in order to hit his older sister.
Indeed. If he felt dressing up like a girl made it possible to defend himself, then maybe you should take a hard look at the sister...
your wife said boys shouldn’t hit girls. start with this because your wife has a toxic mindset if believing women can hit men without consequences.
No. According to the stereotype, boys are more likely to hit girls than the other way around. The problem is that she’s reinforcing the stereotype by telling her son she shouldn’t hit his sister because she’s a girl — he shouldn’t hit his sister because he shouldn’t hit anyone. The sister obviously shouldn’t hit back, but that doesn’t seem to be part of the problem here.
Why weren't you addressing WHY he was fighting? Model healthy communication and conflict resolution. He obviously felt dismissed by your wife. If you can't model healthy relationships then get everyone in therapy to learn.
I mean... Kudos for your son for thinking outside the box on this one. 😂 But yeah, you need to address the underlying issues of why they aren't getting along and teach them BOTH how to solve their problems without resorting to hitting each other.
Where did he learn that putting on a dress makes you a girl? haha
School, probably. This is the world we've made. 😂

Start here: Be the patent you needed growing up add to it all the things your parents did that you believe was right. Talk things through with your wide as others said.
Don’t teach your son that “boys shouldn’t hit girls”, teach them both “anyone ready to throw a fist should expect one back”.
