Out in the sticks

Today, after years of restless sleep in a noisy city, I finally moved to a very quiet place. So quiet that I realized I have tinnitus. I need to play background noise to cover it, so I can manage to get some sleep. FML

There are apps that will play soothing background noise for an hour or so until you fall asleep and then silent while you are sleeping and tinnitus should not wake you up.

White noise machine. There's a lot of interesting apps and toys now to deal with this. Check baby stores they have quite nice options how to deal with this.

Rain noises helped me a lot when I had stress-induced tinnitus. You can get apps that play it for X amount of time before shutting themselves off, if that’s your issue with sleep. Or you could turn on a fan or something. I’m sorry you have to deal with this either way.

At least now you get to choose your background noise.
