Get a nail clipper if you’re worried about unwelcome attention. It takes only a minute or two to clip your fingernails with a Gem type common nail clipper (the kind with a bulldog like mouth and a lever). You don’t really have to use a file if you do a reasonable job with the clipper - it’s quicker.
