Physical block and it thins out the womb lining so there's nothing to stick to. Bonus, you don't really bleed with it so saves a fortune on sanitary products. That and a condom should do the trick for the future. Unfortunately I can't offer any advice on the abject arseholes who are tone deaf, selfish and appallingly unfeeling. Mirena is hormonal and therefore does not suit for everyone. Also, there are (rare, but still) cases where women get pregnant despite having IUS.
