HOAs suck

By really? - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I got a notice from the housing association, if I don't water my lawn I will be charged a $150 fine. Yet if I do water my lawn the city with charge me a $150 fine because of the drought. FML

Report the housing association to the city? They probably can't be telling people to do that right now.

If everyone from other states just donates one glass of water than we can restore California please help our state by mailing your water to the Capitol thank you

I live in California they are actually doing this you get a ticket for not keeping up your yard or for watering during our drought

Maybe contact your housing association? They should be in compliance with the city regulations...

some housing associations don't care about the drought. They would rather keep up the green lawn than save water and let them die.

Most HOA people would rather see brown/dead grass or dirt/rocks than artificial grass. Even though the artificial grass looks pretty much like real grass now.

It's an HOA. HOA's are really wannabe evil overlords who plant to takeover their local subdivision with their Stepford Robots and Evil Brainwashed Poodles.

Dig up the goddamn lawn. Bang, done. Problem solved.

This is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation I'd say it would be better not to water your lawn though getting fined by the state would be harder to make go away than being fined by the housing association.

So what you do is buy a bunch of water bottles and spray them everywhere, jk I'm sure the city takes precedence over the association, so follow the city's rules.

Check your local city regulations. Where I live we get to water on certain days of the week (I live in California as well).

I live in California, too. You can water your lawn, just on alternating days and either early in the morning or late in the evening. Of course, if OP pays his own water bill, watering the lawn will raise his already high water bill. I think OP needs to double check the city ordinances (assuming OP is in California).
