Today, while helping my father build a shelf, I suggested that we should probably use the instruction manual. He suggested I should probably shut the fuck up and do it his way. FML

Now pull up a chair and watch him ruin the parts

Your dads right. Real men don't use manuals!

Just let the man build who knows if it goes wrong he might go into macgyver mode and make something awesome.

Your dad is so awesome! Haha I love it

Our dads would be best friends

Suggesting that the father read the instruction manual isn't exactly just cause for the Dad to snap back like that. I could perhaps see your point if the OP kept bothering about it but from what I can tell the OP probably just rolled his eyes and followed along.

I hope you realize you don't build a shelf, you install a shelf, you cut a shelf out of wood. One does not build a shelf.

Well, actually, installing the shelf refers to securing it to a wall or to whatever it is being secured. If it is a stand-a-lone self unit, or it is during the process PRIOR to affixing it to a wall - IE putting all the parts into proper place - you are definitely building a shelf.

Never question a mans' ability to build anything

Real men never use the manual.

I'm guessin the shelf fell down

Then how about you shut the **** up and do it his way! And make him a sandwich too
