Today, trying to get some much needed rest, I heard my neighbors fighting loudly. When they finally quit, they left a DVD on, directly behind my wall: Spongebob, with the menu tune on loop. FML

Today, I finally had some alone time to relax and watch a movie. As soon as I pressed play, my neighbor started blasting their music so loud I could feel the bass in my chest. I tried calling the landlord, but they didn't answer. I ended up watching the movie with subtitles while listening to my neighbor's music. FML

Today, I finally got tired of my neighbors constantly blaring their obnoxious rap music all hours of the day and night. Trying to be funny, I put Baby Shark on a loop and turned my speakers all the way up. They called the cops on me. FML

Today, my neighbor got a ridiculous surround sound system that sounds like Jurassic fucking Park come to life. My walls are literally shaking. I tried asking nicely for them to turn it down. They told me to fuck off, and that if I call the cops with a noise complaint, well… they know where I live. FML

Today, my neighbours came to yell at me as they could hear my "shit music" through my window during the afternoon, so I turned it off. They then began to play their definition of "quality music" into the late hours of the night. I was listening to the Beatles. They blasted Nicki Minaj. FML

Today, my neighbors in the apartment above me yet again had a loud fight, well past midnight while I was trying to sleep. I stood on my bed and pounded on the ceiling to shut them up. And now I'll have to explain the two fist-shaped holes in the ceiling to my landlord. FML

Today, after my old downstairs neighbor, who would come upstairs to bang on my door and yell at me every time she heard a sound from me at all times of the day, had finally moved out, it became clear that my new downstairs neighbor gets drunk and yells at the TV in the early hours of the morning. Today, I found out my upstairs neighbors filed a noise complaint against me for banging on the ceiling every night. They conveniently left out the part where they constantly stomp, shout, and do stuff that sounds like they're dropping bricks to the floor every night. FML

I am not sure why everyone on here keeps saying for OP to get ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones, or turn your music or T.V. up!!! why should they have to do that? OP pays rent and last I checked most apartments have noise compliance policies. OP speak to your landlord or call the Police. I feel for you. I hope you get the rest that you deserve.

usually the noise ordinance doesn't start until a certain time. sometimes the cops don't care if they can't hear it outside. so, likewise they can listen to whatever they want.

I had a problem neighbor like that after he decided that I was the problem because I remained friends with his ex girlfriend who no longer lived in the state, we had a newborn baby and he purposely played loud music against the wall of the nursery and we had no power, called the police for advice, they came around, he padlocked the small cupboard with all 4units mains and they busted it open and found that he had stolen our fuses and placed them under his, now they are all identical but we knew ours because it had a couple of distinctive marks on the side, the police decided to take his out, place it it his mailbox and leave him a stern warning letter. They also advised us that we have their permission to do the same if he does it again, so we did, we rang and told them, they laughed and said neighbor was less of an a**hole after that. See if your local PD will allow you to do something similar. Should turn off the dvd or whatever is playing and you can plug it right back in straight away
