Today, my two brothers wanted to show off their new restraint method they learned at work. On me. In the street. Right in front of the asylum. A nearby policeman handcuffed me. FML

Okay, I think I can clarify this. Police tend to patrol the areas around asylums/mental wards/pyschiatric institutes because they are slightly infamous for escape attempts and successes- and a psychiatric patient off their meds can be a really dangerous thing, especially if the ward is near a very populated public area like a mall or market. The officer very well might have thought, when they saw the brothers perform the takedown, that OP was an escapee. Why the brothers decided to do it there, I have no idea, beyond that they may have anticipated that response and did it as a sick joke. Obviously, I can't say for certain as I wasn't there, but there was a similar mixup at a pyschiatric ward in the town I live in, several years ago.
