Today, my 3 year old woke up at 2 am and refused to go back to sleep unless she could sleep with her father and me. Normally we would have said no, but both of us being so tired, we said yes. She slowly kicked me out of my side of the bed and now I have to sleep on the couch. FML

MissShei tells us more.

OP here. She has recently been having nightmares and keeping us up half the night. We were both exhausted so we said fine. I got up to go pee and when I came back, she had thrown my pillow on the floor and completely took over my side of the bed. If I moved her, she would've started screaming again and I just wanted sleep. I let her father deal with her at that point! I did sleep well for the rest of the night :)

It's clear who wears the pants in this family . . . and they come from Gap Kids.

OP, I'm sure you got better sleep than your hubby did by sleeping on the couch. Sleeping with a three year old isn't exactly restful!

It is three! Unless it is one time and only for a horrific nightmare or something like that that it stays in your bed. The 3 year old will keep on crawling back to get comfy on your bed. Best of luck.

29-I'm a firm believer in keeping consistency with a child as well as a child sleeping in his own bed, however sometimes you choose your battles. Bending the rules every now and then is OK!

Well at least it wasn't your spouse making you sleep on the couch!

You're bigger than her! Just lift her up and get back in bed.

Then you don't know the true strength of sleeping children.

That's what I always did.

Or you could try to pick her up and put her back into her own bed? Children already rule most of our lives, don't let them take over your bed too!

I wish it was that easy haha. I had my two year old come in at three am last night after I had the hardest time making sure he stayed in his bed at bed time. When it's the middle of the night I'm way too tired to have that fight with him as I'm sure that's what op was saying. These kids have worn us down all day and all we want is some sleep at night so when they come in we have no energy to fight to get them back in their beds

I would have made the husband move to the couch

Never said he was her husband.

Llama_Face89 33

Boyfriend, actually. Although she doesn't specify.

why? exactly why does he need to move?

Do you at least have a comfortable couch?

She must be really strong for a 3 year old.

Totally understand where you're coming from. Got a two year old who made his way into my bed last night

So Caelan is a cat now?

She pretends to be a cat often enough!

#12 you're too hot to be a mom

get her a tight sleeping bag and cocoon her between you to. feels safe, and can't kick you out of bed!

You've been sent to the dog house

Sounds like the dog house is a lot more comfy, under the circumstances!
