Today, I was informed that I’m not allowed to lock my bedroom door to keep my ex out. He has a history of stealing/hiding personal belongings, touching me inappropriately while I sleep, and going through my phone/journal. FML

That’s beyond messed up. Call the police or something cus that should not be allowed to continue under any circumstances.

I have so many questions. I assume your parents are preventing you from locking your door? Why? How does your ex keep getting into your house while you sleep? Do your parents not believe that he's doing all these things, or do they just not care? It might be a good idea to set up a camera to film your ex doing this stuff, and showing the police, and your parents if they don't believe you.

they might live in halls of residence or flats in the same area as the ex. some places won't let you lock your door in case of fire or something

please get a restraining order. asap. if it means he has to find a new block then so be it.
