shs_fml tells us more.
actually the technician the photographer works with determined that it may take 4 months to recover them. there's no guarantee that it would actually work though and it's extremely expensive.

however, one wrong move in the development, and it's gone forever
Engagement photos. How ******* many engagement photos do you need? I assume you'll be engaged more than one day?
I'm a photographer, and sometimes that happens through no fault of the photographer. The good news is, there are a variety of programs and businesses out there that specialize in recovering corrupted files. If your photographer has business insurance, they might even pay for the recovery costs. Hope isn't lost! The files are still there!
As long as you don't have to pay for the actual photos that you obviously won't receive (unless the files can be recovered by someone), this is probably not that big of a deal. I guess it sucks if you have to pay for the session or something, and you sort of wasted some time... *shrug* We just had a friend take a picture of us to use in our announcement in the newspaper, rather than spend money on a whole engagement session, but I do have several friends that had long (expensive) engagement photo sessions, so I guess if you can afford it, it sucks that it didn't work out
It was awfully nice of the photographer to reshoot you for free, wasn't it? (Please tell me he did.)
i dont get it
Engagement photos? Really? With a paid photographer? Really!? <rolls eyes> Damn heterosexuals...

lol well if that isn't a sign your marriage is doomed I don't know what is!
102 - I don't understand why you'd be stuck paying for it if it's not your fault. Sure, it's expensive but you didn't cause the film to corrupt. I'd fight it.
