Today, as I was closing up at my sandwich-making job when a huge bus full of basic, snobby, preppy cheerleaders came in. They literally "can't even" decide what they want. FML

Oh geez. Umm hi. OP here c: so I should probably mention that it was about 10-15 minutes until closing time, and that we aren't allowed to close the gates until 5 til. First only like 5 came in, and we're like okay let's do this. We got this. And then another one came in. And another. And another. Not only that, but some of our bosses family came in, so we had to serve them FOR FREE. I didn't get to clock out until 30 minutes after, and I would've had to stay even later if it wasn't for the fact that I'm 16 and that child labor laws exist. And I should also mention that I have nothing against cheerleaders, I've known cheerleaders and dancers that are the most down to earth people in the entire world, but these girls were the type that ask for the meat to be heated separate, for us to pack the vegetables separately, ask for sauce on the side, etc. It was ridiculous. But thank you all for your comments, and anyone else out there working retail: You're a damn trooper, kudos to you c;

Did they have any *odd* orders? Get it? Because they "can't even? "

Tell them they can't even get a sandwich then

Were they the type of people who pretty much tell you that you aren't doing a great job and yell at you at just about anything when they "can't even" make a decision for themselves?

No one can handle ass-hats, and few people realize just how many there are until they work customer service.

This reminds me of the "Help Wanted" episode of Spongebob....

YDI for complaining about nothing :) let teens be teens

That's like saying saying A$$holes be A$$holes

Pretty sure you wouldn't be in the greatest mood if you had to serve a group of indecisive teenagers right at closing time. When I used to work in fast food industry I appreciated the considerate customers who knew that we wanted to close up and go home just as fast as they wanted to get their food and go.

Vegemite sandwiches all round, I'd say! Oh, wait - you're not in Australia ;)

you should have been honest and told them you were closed. if you've already started locking up you're closed.

We aren't allowed to close the gate until 5 til, boss says so. Sometimes I really love my job, I love being friendly with customers, and every once and a while I'll get a really good tip because even the managers say I'm one of the best out of our employees when it comes to customer service. I wasn't at all rude to these girls, but there was a sign that clearly said that we close at nine. Some of these girls were ordering ridiculous things too, I.e. One girl wanted every single type of vegetable in a separate container; another wanted a few different sauces packed into a little cup on the side. And because there was so many, we needed all hands on deck, and we couldn't finish our clean up work until after they left. It was a really long night to say at the least

5 minutes is not enough time. I work at the YMCA, and 30 minutes before closing time we are not supposed to let anyone in. those minutes are for us to tally the attendance, turn everything off, get everyone out for the cleaners, restock the towels and count the money. you need time to close and prepare for tomorrow. if you come in 20 or less minutes to closing time then you better be pinpointed onto an item, get it and leave. don't go shopping just buy the thing and go.

"Basic"? Ha, wait until you see *advanced* cheerleaders! They have this animal known as the ability toucan.

Get your salivary glands ready because that's a lot of sandwiches to spit in

I don't care how rude a customer is, which these weren't even rude just annoying, NEVER spit in food. Anyone that does deserves to get fired and possibly taken to court.

why was this ever even down voted?!

I hate the word 'basic' and I hate how just because someone wears boots and leggings, and goes to Starbucks is considered basic.

It wasn't because of their clothes, they were wearing regular sweatpants and sports shirts, it's just the fact that they were so brain dead and needy, with a tendency to act like a valley girl even though they're in the middle of Missouri that made me want to strangle them c:

I just plain don't understand this use of 'basic' as an insult. What on earth is it trying to say? Simple? Common? Please, someone explain to me this phenomenon.

That's precisely what it's implying, actually.

I can't even tell you how annoying that is.
