Today, a classmate I've never spoken to before asked me for my number. Since no one ever calls me anyway, I figured I'd give it to him to be nice. Now he won't stop texting me about how he can't stop thinking about me and "really needs to see me again". I'm afraid to go back to that class. FML

im split here... i mean on one hand that is ******* creepy. on the other You gave someone who's practically a stranger your number.

Really what did you expect? Usually when someone you don't talk to asks you for your number, they want to ask you out. Although this one seems very desperate, which is annoying.

people do that all the time. someone being creepy is not someone else's fault.

While giving your number to a stranger isn't really a good idea, you don't deserve it, getting harassed like that is never ok. I'd talk to someone at your school, like security and your teacher, tell them the situation and maybe they can accommodate you, like telling the guy he needs to stop, or putting you in another class. If he's really bad, I'm pretty sure they're obligated to do something to help you.

She should probably talk to the person via text first. Just simply say I'm not interested and please stop texting me, I'm not interested in this sort of relationship with you. If it still happens alert someone but no need to freak out on a guy that may just be trying to be romantic to win over a girl?

Giving someone your number has the clear subtext that they should call/text you, perhaps to arrange a date. That said, I agree with #1 - you could hardly have expected that standard of obsessiveness.
